Hey friends! Hope you’re all doing great. Today I’m going to tell you about something truly exciting. Volvo EX30 (2025 model) — a compact electric SUV that I believe is very interesting and worth a look if you’re thinking about moving into an EV. I’ll try to keep things simple and share my own take, like I’m just chatting with a friend.

What it is and what’s special
Let’s dive in. The EX30 is a fully electric SUV from Volvo, designed with clean Scandinavian lines, a modern feel, and built for people who want something premium but in a smaller package. On the official Volvo site, they mention things like “balanced proportions”, “Scandinavian minimalism” and practical design that also looks good.
So yes — it’s not just about being electric, but also about how it looks and feels. Do you know it’s very special because Volvo has managed to put a lot of premium features into a smaller SUV, which is not always easy.

The price in our town
Talking about price, in India, the Volvo EX30 is priced from around ₹41 lakh (ex-showroom) in many cities. For our town (Patna, Bihar), you would likely see something close to that plus local taxes, registration, and insurance, so expect on-road to be higher. So you might estimate around ₹45-50 lakh or possibly more, depending on your exact location and extras. It’s good to check with the local dealership for the exact on-road cost.
Volvo EX30 Key design & exterior features
So, brother, let’s talk design. The EX30 has a very fresh look:
- A black roof and spoiler option, which adds a sporty contrast.
- New wheel design: “aero” styled 19-inch wheels with sharp angles and black inserts, which give a premium feel.
- Clean front-end for an EV: since there’s no big grille needed, the design is smoother and modern.
- Despite being compact, it’s still a 5-seater SUV – so you don’t feel like you’re in some tiny hatchback.
In real life, what this means is: you’ll easily drive it around the city in Patna, with its narrower lanes, and also feel comfortable on highways. Its size works for daily use and weekend getaways.
Volvo EX30 Performance, battery & range
Now, the heart of the matter. The Volvo EX30 is an EV so the battery and performance matter a lot.
- It comes with a 69 kWh battery in the Indian version (single-motor rear-wheel drive).
- Volvo claims up to 480 km range on a single charge (depending on driving conditions).
- Charging: Using a fast charger (DC), it can go from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes (with a 175 kW charger) as per Volvo’s numbers.
- Performance-wise: It accelerates quickly — the 0 to 100 km/h timing is around 5.3 seconds according to some reports.
From a normal person’s viewpoint, that means: when you press the accelerator, you feel it zip forward. For daily city drives + highway, that kind of response is satisfying. And the range means fewer worries about charging (provided you have good access to fast-chargers or home charging).
Volvo EX30 Interior & tech
My favourite part, maybe. The interior of this car shows that Volvo really wants to keep things premium and useful.

- The cabin uses recycled materials like PET bottles and fabrics that show Volvo’s push for sustainability.
- Big touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay, Google built-in system.
- Boot space is pretty decent: you get about 400 litres with the seats up, and if you fold the second row you can go up to 1000 litres.
- Real-life example: if you are going on a weekend trip with your family (say 4 people) and a couple of suitcases + bags, you’ll be comfortable with space. Then fold down seats for more gear.
Volvo EX30 Safety & real-life usability
Now the safety things matter a lot. Volvo has always emphasised safety.
- The Volvo EX30 gets advanced driver assistance systems: level 2 ADAS, blind spot monitoring, 360-degree camera, etc.
- Ground clearance is decent (~165 mm or so) for Indian roads.
- For our town roads (which sometimes have uneven surfaces, potholes etc), having a sturdy build and good clearance is a plus. You’re less likely to feel jostled.
Real-life thoughts & pros/cons
From my side, weigh the good and the things to be aware of.
Pros:
- Strong performance + good range.
- Premium feel inside & outside.
- EV means lower running cost (no petrol/diesel, less maintenance).
- Good brand trust (Volvo).
- Suitable size for both city + occasional highway drives.
Cons:
- Price is high (₹41 lakh ex-showroom onwards) so affordability is a factor.
- Charging infrastructure in our region might still be catching up — you’ll need to plan where you’ll charge.
- Rear-seat space and some comfort bits might be less compared to bigger SUVs; if you often have tall people at back, check it personally. Some reviews say legroom & headroom are modest.
- On-road cost will be higher than ex-showroom due to local taxes, insurance.
Who is this car for?
In plain words: If you are someone living in a city like Patna but you travel often (maybe to nearby states), you like good design, want an electric car with good range, and you’re ready to pay a premium — then this is a very good choice.
If you’re more budget-sensitive, or your charging access is poor, then maybe look at more affordable EVs or wait a bit.

My final take
All in all, I kind of like the Volvo EX30. It feels like a modern, future-ready car that doesn’t compromise on the “luxury” feel. For someone like you or me who wants something enjoyable, electric, and premium — it ticks many boxes. The price is a bit steep but that’s expected for this segment right now. If I were in the market and had the budget, I would definitely consider it.
